Hands-On Mechanical Ventilation Training for Healthcare Professionals
Build practical skills and confidence in the fundamentals of mechanical ventilation with the Mechanical Ventilation Foundations (MVF) Workshop — a half-day, hands-on training experience designed for healthcare professionals who care for mechanically ventilated patients but may have limited formal training or experience with ventilator management.
Participants complete the BVLS Foundations online course before attending, establishing a common understanding of respiratory physiology, gas exchange, ventilator terminology, basic settings, modes, alarms, and lung-protective ventilation principles. The live workshop then moves beyond the online curriculum by having participants apply those foundational concepts directly to the ventilator through guided practice, clinical exercises, and hands-on troubleshooting.
Rather than focusing on complex disease-specific ventilator management, MVF emphasizes the essential skills clinicians need to understand the ventilator, perform a systematic ventilator assessment, recognize common problems, and participate confidently in the care of mechanically ventilated patients.
